Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefits Application (CNEEB)

July 29, 2024

Dear Parent/Guardian:

We Need Your Help!  Our school is participating in a federal program called the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP). This program allows all children in our school to eat at no charge. However, some education programs we provide are funded with state dollars.

We will no longer be collecting Free and Reduced-Price Applications every year, instead, we must collect the Child Nutrition Eligibility & Education Benefit Application (CNEEB). This form helps us collect household information for all students attending CEP schools. Without this information, Onalaska Schools could lose important state funding for educational programs that our students are entitled to.

Through submission of the CNEEB Application, households may qualify for:

  • Free and reduced-price meal benefits,

  • Summer EBT benefits,

  • Reduced fees for other programs and activities, and/or

  • Help secure other educational funding for the LEA

What You Can Do Please take a moment to complete the form and return it to your student’s school. The CNEEB captures information and ensures the district/school receives state funding for education programs.

We’re excited to offer no-cost meals to all students and appreciate your help. To continue to provide this program, we must collect this important data. If you have any questions, please contact: Jerry Carlson at 360-978-4111 and option 6 or jcarlson@onysd.wednet.edu

Sincerely,

The Onalaska School Food Service is operated by the school district, for the children, under a federal grant. The district operates its own food service to provide great meals to our students in a fiscally responsible way. This allows the cooks to make a lot of the food from scratch. Giving them more control over the sodium, fat, and fiber contents of each meal. Some of the items made from scratch are Pizza, sloppy joes, spaghetti, all soups, baked beans, refried beans, Mexican style black beans, rolls, cookies, teriyaki and, General Tso chicken, logger nachos (meat & cheese sauce), BBQ Chicken, quesadillas and chef salads. We offer vegetables and a variety of fruits every day. Whole grain products are available every day. All of the meals are planned to meet the RDAs for the students we feed.

CEP Schools - Free School Meals

Onalaska School District's application for the Community Eligibility Provision (CEP) was approved. That means All students will have access to school meals free of charge. Free school meals will start with the 22-23 school year and run through June 30th, 2026. This is great news for Onalaska Families! Especially with the increased food and fuel prices.

CEP Benefits our Students and Families by ensuring all children have equal access to nutritious meals. It eliminates the meal costs for our families and reduces the stigma around school meals.  School meals improve student attendance and improve test scores. They also reduce disciplinary referrals across all grade levels.
